Genesis 3-5 & Luke 2

I think my favorite verse in this section is Genesis 3:24 “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” It doesn’t say much other than Enoch walked with God. I enjoy going for a walk around our neighborhood with my wife. You don’t just walk but you talk and you share life. That is what Enoch and God are doing, they are sharing life. This was in the heart of God from the beginning. God takes no pleasure in religious ceremonialism or tradition for tradition sake. What pleases God is going for a walk. Enoch walked his way right into the eternal presence of the Lord. I think this must have been the most natural thing for Enoch. He’s in conversation with the Lord and I like to think he was so caught up in conversation with God that when he finally looked around and Enoch said, “Where are we?” Maybe the Lord said, “Why don’t you just stay?” I don’t know if that is exactly what happened but I know I want to have more times with God this next year where I lose myself in fellowship with Him.
