Exodus 39-40;Acts 12

Acts 12:15 "But they said to her, “You are beside yourself!” Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, “It is his angel.”

Listening and reading reports about what is happening in Haiti brings a lot of us to our knees, praying and interceding for the people of that region. With so much destruction and persecution it’s our final battle cry. In Acts 8:4 we read that after Stephen’s death the Christians were scattered everywhere. Acts 12 opens with Herod killing James the brother of John with the sword and now Peter is going to be next. There was no way to appeal to get Peter freed or even for him to escape. All the Christians could do is pray. Verse five says there was “constant prayer” it was done with intensity and it was continuous. This was no wimpy prayer meeting; the Greek indicates they threw themselves in to prayer. Unseen forces of the world, the flesh, and the devil were moving King Herod to try to stop the church. I am not sure why certain evils exist in the world but they do. We are called to pray and God does the rest. This reminds me of Pastor Rick’s message on Sunday how Moses interceded for the people and when he did they won the battle and when he didn’t they faced defeat. As a result of their prayers several miracles take place and Peter is now standing in the same room where they are praying for his freedom and safety. God answered their prayers but they didn’t believe that God actually answered them. God does answer our prayers…so let’s pray? Father, help us with our unbelief.

Believing with you!

Pastor Joe
